ArmInfo. The "In Our Way" movement, created by the arrested Russian businessman of Armenian descent Samvel Karapetyan, has expressed its support for the detained mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan.
A statement released by the movement on its Facebook page emphasized that the mayor of Gyumri is facing blatant, disproportionate, and brutal persecution. In light of this situation, the "In Our Way" movement urged Armenian citizens to protest and respond to Ghukasyan's detention. "In the current situation, every sober-minded citizen of our country must understand that the obvious repressions of the authorities, who have lost the people's trust, will sooner or later reach everyone. And if the people do not express their protest and have their say now, Armenia will very soon become a country with a total dictatorship," the "In Our Way" movement stated.
