ArmInfo.Comrade, friend, or compatriot - who is Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the leader of a state that considers Armenians enemies? This rhetorical question comes up after a video from yesterday's "Peace Summit" in the Middle East in Sharm el-Sheikh that has been widely shared online.
In the video, US President Donald Trump, seated in front of a table, turns to the seated leaders of other countries and, addresses Aliyev, asking, "Where is your compatriot?"
Aliyev, smiling broadly, gestures towards Pashinyan. "Do you guys still get along? They fought for 32 years, we settled it in an hour. They like each other," Trump continued.
It's noteworthy that the US President used the word "compatriot." Most dictionaries list "compatriot" as the primary definition of this word, with alternative meanings such as "comrade" or "friend" also offered.
One can only guess how Aliyev perceives Pashinyan, and how Donald Trump perceives both of them.
