


ArmInfo.Extensive work is being done on the issue of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijani prisons. Noubar Afeyan, an American-Canadian entrepreneur of Armenian descent and co-founder of the biotechnology company Moderna, told reporters on October 14.
According to him, active and ongoing efforts have been underway for two years now to secure their release. "Other countries are also trying to find a solution, and let's hope that justice will prevail," Afeyan said, expressing hope that this issue will be resolved through the peace process.
According to official data, 23 Armenians are being held captive in Baku, including eight former members of the military-political leadership of Artsakh. These are former Artsakh presidents Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan; former Foreign Minister Davit Babayan; as well as parliament speaker Davit Ishkhanyan; former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, General Levon Mnatsakanyan; General David Manukyan; and former state minister Ruben Vardanyan. They were captured after the occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic on September 19-20, 2023. They are currently facing staged trials orchestrated by the Aliyev regime.
