Parakar community gets new head 

ArmInfo. Onik Akhverdyan has been elected the new head of the enlarged Parakar community. This was announced following the results of the October 7 vote in the Council of Community Elders.

Twelve Council members voted in favor of Akhverdyan as head of the  community. The inauguration ceremony for the newly elected head of  the community will take place on October 10. Onik Akhverdyan, like  his predecessor, the murdered Volodya Grigoryan, is a member of the  "Country for Life" party.

As a reminder, on September 23 at 11:52 PM, police received a call  about a shooting on the Yerevan Highway in the village of Merdzavan  in the Armavir Region, which left two people dead and one injured.   One of the dead was Volodya Grigoryan, the head of the Parakar  community, and the other was his friend, Karen Abrahamyan, an officer  of the Ararat Criminal Police Department. Another person was injured.

On September 27, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that  during the preliminary investigation into the murder that occurred in  Merdzavan, as a result of comprehensive operational and investigative  measures conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the  National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, one person was  detained on direct suspicion of committing the crime and brought to  the preliminary investigation agency. The detainee was identified as  Narek Ohanyan. According to the investigation, the incident was  motivated by a vendetta
