ArmInfo.Ahead of Yerevan Day, businessman Samvel Karapetyan, head of the Tashir Group of Companies, delivered his latest message "from the depths" of the National Security Service. This time, the businessman addressed comfort, the environment, and the development and implementation of programs in the Armenian capital, Yerevan.
In a letter distributed on the Karapetyan Defense Council's Facebook page, the head of the Tashir Group of Companies noted that the city currently falls short of its status as a capital. Specifically, Karapetyan noted, this is due to the city's disappointing architectural diversity and the lack of large parks and tourist infrastructure, which belies a capital with a thousand-year history, as well as the lack of large-scale development programs.
In this regard, the businessman emphasized that the primary and daily discussed indicators of Yerevan's development should not be the paving of roads or the acquisition of buses, since, in his words, these have no bearing on real development. "In this regard, the 'Our Way' movement will soon offer a variety of solutions to various problems. Yerevan must become the region's educational and medical center. The city must become renowned for its international universities and world-class healthcare. Thanks to major investments, we will transform Yerevan into a city worthy of the Pan-Armenian capital, a luxurious metropolis that will be both comfortable to live and work in," Karapetyan stated in his address.
To this end, the businessman noted, a plan will be developed to reconstruct courtyards and building facades using best international practices. "After all, today many courtyards are reminiscent of the sad 1990s, while we live in the 21st century," Karapetyan lamented.
According to him, access to transportation will also be ensured for more dynamic travel around the city. Furthermore, major investment plans will be proposed to renovate the city's housing stock and bring it into line with modern times. "We will ensure that news from Yerevan focuses not on the demolition of yet another kiosk, but on new achievements and recently implemented major programs, using the best capitals of the world as examples," the businessman concluded in his message.
As a reminder, Samvel Karapetyan was detained in Yerevan on the night of June 18 by Armenian law enforcement agencies after expressing support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. This was followed by open threats from the Prime Minister. On the night of June 19, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction remanded Samvel Karapetyan, president of the Tashir Group, in custody for two months. He is accused of publicly calling for a takeover of power in the country. Furthermore, in July, the head of the Tashir Group was charged with new money laundering. He denies the charges. On August 15, early in the morning, after nearly 10 hours of considering the investigator's motion, the Anti-Corruption Court extended Karapetyan's detention for another two months.
