
ArmInfo.The killer of Parakar village head Volodya Grigoryan and criminal police officer Karen Abrahamyan has been arrested. Kima Avdalyan, press secretary of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia, reported this on social media.
Parakar community head Volodya Grigoryan was killed on September 23 in the courtyard of his home. As previously reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, on September 23 at 11:52 PM, police received a report of shots fired on the Yerevan Highway in the village of Merdzavan in the Armavir Region. A criminal investigation has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 155 (murder) in two counts, as well as Part 1 of Articles 44-155 (attempted murder) and Part 1 of Article 155 (attempted murder). 335 (illegal trafficking of weapons, their main components, parts, ammunition, and other materials, devices, and objects). One person was detained and taken to the pretrial detention center.
On September 28, Avdalyan announced that the case had been solved. A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the detained individual under the article on assisting in murder. the Investigative Committee stated in a statement.
The individual confessed and indicated the location of the rifle used in the crime. The investigator also seized the rifle used in the crime. Volodya Grigoryan was elected as the head of the Parakar community from the opposition Unity bloc (Country for Life and Victory parties) in the March 2025 local elections. He received 6,508 votes, securing 57% of the vote.
As a reminder, seven months ago, an armed attack on the home of Mher Akhtoyan, head of the Merdzavan village administration in the enlarged Parakar community of Armenia's Armavir region, resulted in the death of Akhtoyan's cousin, Grigor Ohanyan, and injury to another person. Volodya Grigoryan's brother, Paykar Grigoryan, was arrested as a suspect and is currently under house arrest.
