ArmInfo. On this day, two years ago, during the Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh and the forced displacement of the entire Armenian population, an explosion occurred at a fuel depot near Stepanakert, killing more than 200 people, with approximately the same number missing.
Tigran Abrahamyan, parliament member from the "With Honor" opposition faction, wrote on his Facebook page, pointing out the ongoing silence and still-unrevealed details of the explosion, which took place during the September 2023 aggression. As the opposition member recalled, various theories were put forward at the time, ranging from an Azerbaijani strike or terrorist attack to a security breach, but there has been no definite explanation or accountability for the incident.
"Meanwhile, an unprecedented tragedy occurred, hundreds of people died, but the investigation remains inconclusive, and there are no answers to the fundamental questions: what really happened, and who will be held accountable," the MP noted.
Specifically, as Abrahamyan mentioned, Kamo Vardanyan, then commander of the NKR Defense Army, didn't make any statement regarding Azerbaijani aggression, the forced displacement of Artsakh residents, the explosion at a fuel depot operated by the Defense Army, or the hundreds of casualties.
