ArmInfo.Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the possibility of Armenia joining the European Union.
"The question of whether EU membership is realistic or unrealistic for Armenia is often raised, but what do the government and the political majority say? Our goal is to achieve European Union standards in all areas. We understand that even after achieving this, we may not become an EU member. However, our primary goal is to meet EU standards. Once we achieve this, whether or not we are admitted, it will be our accomplishment. We will resolve our issue, we will resolve the issue of our standards," the Prime Minister stated on September 23 during the Armenian Forum on Democracy.
As Pashinyan pointed out, many perceive this as geopolitics. "I understand this position, but no one is recording what decision the political majority made. This is the next step-a declaration and statement of commitment to democratic reforms. Otherwise, the adoption of such a law would be pointless," he noted.
