
ArmInfo. Newly appointed British Ambassador Alexandra Pamela Cole presented her credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
According to the Armenian presidential press service, Khachaturyan emphasized the importance Armenia attaches to further developing relations with the United Kingdom. He noted that Armenian-British cooperation has intensified significantly in recent years, bringing the bilateral interaction to the level of a strategic partnership. The Armenian President expressed hope that the parties will soon sign the relevant agreement.
The UK Ambassador, in turn, agreed that relations between the two countries have improved in recent years. "The agreement to transform our relations into a strategic partnership provides us with numerous opportunities to work together on a range of issues of mutual interest, grounded in democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and, in particular, sovereignty and territorial integrity," she noted. The parties also discussed regional developments and efforts to establish a stable and lasting peace. They also talked about new prospects for cooperation in high technology and cybersecurity. Khachaturyan and Cole discussed the possibility of launching direct London-Yerevan flights and noted the importance of boosting parliamentary diplomacy as a key component in deepening bilateral relations.
The meeting also touched on the organization of important international events planned for Armenia in 2026, particularly, the European Political Community summit and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 17).
