ArmInfo. In relations with our neighbors, we rely on the provisions of the Alma-Ata Declaration. Each of our actions, including a stamp or statement, should not "send dangerous messages to neighboring countries," as stated by Artur Hovhannisyan, the Secretary of the ruling Civil Contract faction, during a briefing on September 15. He was commenting on the decision of the Armenian government to remove Mount Ararat from border stamps from November 1, 2025.
According to him, the stamp in the passport should feature symbols related to the state and refrain from evoking any emotional responses. "We are doing everything to ensure that there are no differences in perception regarding Armenia, and therefore the symbols we use must be based on principles of statehood," Hovhannisyan said. The Secretary of the ruling faction believes that anything else is an attempt to play on emotions, and assured that there is no conspiracy around this topic. "Armenia is a sovereign country with its internationally recognized borders. Therefore, our border stamps should reflect state symbols, which has been done," Hovhannisyan concluded.
