
ArmInfo. Turkey's Special Representative for the Normalization of Relations between Armenia and Turkey Serdar Kilic has arrived in Armenia.
As reported by "Armenpress", Serdar Kilic was met by the Special Representative for the Normalization of Relations with Turkey Ruben Rubinyan at the Margara checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish border.
The then Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced the launch of the normalization process on December 13, 2021. At the same time, he emphasized that Ankara would act in coordination with Azerbaijan regarding steps to normalize relations with Armenia. After that, Armenia and Turkey appointed special representatives for settlement issues. Former Turkish Ambassador to the United States Serdar Kilic took up this position from Ankara, and Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Ruben Rubinyan from Yerevan. Yerevan and Ankara held several rounds of negotiations.
During the 4th round of negotiations on July 1, 2022 in Vienna, the parties agreed to ensure the possibility of crossing the Armenian-Turkish land border for third-country nationals visiting Armenia and Turkey, respectively, as soon as possible, and decided to begin the necessary processes in this direction. However, this agreement has remained on paper for now.
