Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan comments on election of   infamous Armen Danielyan as  Cassation Court judge  

ArmInfo.  Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan has commented on the Armenian parliament's election of the infamous Armen Danielyan as a judge of the criminal chamber of the Cassation Court today.  "Our lawyers who filed  complaints to the Criminal Court of Appeal, those who had at least a  drop of faith, always prayed while filing a complaint that the case  would not suddenly be transferred to Armen Danielyan, the worst judge  in the history of the Armenian people. And now, by an almost  unanimous decision of the "Civil Contract" (the ruling political  force - ed.), the aforementioned person has been promoted and  appointed a judge of the Cassation Court. Good news for us and you!"  Melikyan wrote on his Facebook page.

Note that on September 11, the deputies of the ruling "Civil  Contract" faction in the National Assembly of Armenia elected Armen  Danielyan as a new judge of the criminal chamber of the Cassation  Court by secret ballot.  His candidacy was unanimously supported by  65 deputies. The opposition boycotted the vote.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Judicial Council had put forward  three candidates for this vacant position: Lusine Abgaryan, Armen  Danielyan and Nelly Baghdasaryan.
