


ArmInfo. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Armenia confirmed the fact of the detention of the brother of the former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia in the community of Parakar.
Thus, the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia Narek Sargsyan, when asked by ArmInfo whether the information disseminated by the media that the brother of the former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, now the Ambassador of Armenia to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan was detained on the night of September 3, was true, said that the patrol police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia stopped a vehicle in the community of Parakar for the purpose of inspection.
"Patrol Service officers stopped a car in Yerevan's Parakar community to check a vehicle. The passenger of the stopped vehicle ran out of the car, throwing a pistol and bags of powdered substances onto the road as he ran. The driver of the vehicle was immediately detained and taken to the Vagharshapat police department. Nothing suspicious was found on him during his personal search," the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said, without naming names.
He noted that the details and circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Sargsyan added that measures are being taken to find and detain the citizen who fled. The documents drawn up, Sargsyan added, have been transferred to the preliminary investigation agency.
Earlier, the media reported that the brother of the former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, newly appointed Armenian Ambassador to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan was detained in Parakar on suspicion of drug use.
