Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin: Archbishop Ajapahyan`s arrest   extended in gross violation of law and rights

ArmInfo. The arrest of Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan,  the Primate of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC),  was extended as a result of gross violation of law and rights.

According to the statement issued by  the press office of the Mother  See of Holy Etchmiadzin, it is obvious that the court, instead of  administering justice, has clearly joined the anti-church campaign  instigated by the Armenian authorities, assuming the dishonorable  role of retaliating against clergymen and those who support the AAC.

"It is necessary to  end the illegalities, including the  discriminatory approach, and immediately release both His Eminence  Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan and those detained on false charges," the  AAC statement said.
