


ArmInfo. During a plenary session on September 3, the Kazakh Majilis ratified the Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Armenia on cooperation in the field of migration. The document was signed on April 15, 2024 in Yerevan, Kazinform reports.
The agreement aims to regulate interaction between the competent authorities of both countries in the field of migration and is designed to enhance bilateral cooperation. The responsible agencies from Kazakhstan are the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and from Armenia - the Police and the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The parties have agreed to exchange statistical, legal and scientific-methodical information, data on citizens within their respective states, and information on identified violations of migration laws. Additionally, issues regarding the legal residency status of citizens will be jointly considered and assistance will be provided on emerging issues. Such an exchange is necessary, particularly, in combating dual citizenship and preventing illegal migration channels. It was also noted during the discussion that currently, 2,134 citizens of Armenia work in Kazakhstan, compared to 2,623 last year.
