ArmInfo. The Baku delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will be closing on September 3 at the request of the Azerbaijani authorities, but this does not mean that our opportunities for work will be diminished, as stated by the head of the Armenian delegation of the ICRC, Daphne Marais, in a conversation with journalists in response to a question from ArmInfo about the further actions of this humanitarian organization in addressing the fate of missing persons after the shutdown of the ICRC office in Azerbaijan.
She emphasized that the efforts made in recent years and decades will not be forgotten. Marais believes that now is a decisive moment in the context of the initialing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8. "The draft states that ongoing work and coordination with the international organization will be carried out to address the issue of missing persons. But this does not mean that we will not maintain contacts with the authorities in Baku. We will continue to maintain neutrality and offer our mediation role in several issues. Of course, one of the most important issues is the issue of missing persons," the head of the ICRC delegation in Armenia concluded.
