ArmInfo. During her visit to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex yesterday, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan practically admitted to the crime she had committed, as was stated by former Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan to journalists during a meeting on the territory of the Complex. He also commented on the statement of the Minister, who announced the need to create an expert group to assess the situation and find solutions after reviewing the work carried out. Demoyan assured that he is not against the repair work that they are trying to impose on him, but rather the approaches used in the reconstruction of the Memorial. According to him, the monument has suffered, and in some cases, irreversibly.
Furthermore, he raised concerns about the work of labor migrants who do not treat the monument with due attention. He pointed out noted that his criticism is not directed against the workers themselves, but at those who have authorized the use of laborers, not understanding the value of this monument for the Armenian people. Demoyan called for an immediate halt to the destruction and demolition of the monument, insisting that the contract with the company lacking the appropriate qualifications and competent personnel to carry out such work at the Memorial Complex be terminated. The former director of the Museum also called for the formation of an expert group to assess the work and budget for the repair. He emphasized that the monument must be restored to its original state by October 15. Additionally, Demoyan stated that those responsible for such an approach must be held accountable. He pointed out that he holds the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan to be the number one culprit for the current situation.
