During a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abbas Araghchi, briefed him on the results of his discussions with colleagues from Great Britain, Germany and France on the settlement of the Iranian nuclear program. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to continue making a significant contribution to diplomatic efforts aimed at normalizing the situation around the JCPOA and de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Views were exchanged on several other regional issues of mutual interest. Priority issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed, including the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran signed by the presidents on January 17, 2025, and the agreements reached on enhancing cooperation in transport and energy. A mutual commitment to maintain a trusting political dialogue and strengthen coordination between diplomatic services was expressed. A schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels, primarily at the highest level, was discussed.
It is worth noting that Lavrov had previously held a telephone conversation with his counterpart from Azerbaijan. The agenda of the conversation included issues related to developments in the South Caucasus.
