ArmInfo. Statements by EU officials smack of outright cynicism, as stated by Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan in a conversation with journalists on August 22.
"Yesterday I watched an interview with EU Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas on the BBC, what did this lady say? Like, Ukraine should not give up territories in exchange for peace. Seriously? And in the case of Armenia, do you welcome the cession of territories? If giving up territories is a good solution, then do it in Ukraine. Why can't we give up anything in the case of Ukraine, but in the case of Armenia - exactly the opposite?" Ashotyan said.
According to him, the same Kallas considers the Ukrainian army to be the main guarantor of Ukraine's security. "Why then don't you talk about the Armenian army? Moreover, from Nikol (RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan - ed.) to his sponsors, they tell us that we do not need an army. But in the case of Ukraine, everyone says that the army is a guarantee of security. This smacks of outright cynicism. It is clear that Nikol is selling us this dirty product, but the buyer is us, the people. We must reject this false peace. This worm-eaten peace, rotten and poisonous. There is no peace in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, there is a long, gradual death of the Armenian state, people and its dignity," the politician said.
