ArmInfo. The current agendas in Armenia and Azerbaijan on the return of citizens who became refugees in the early 90s pose serious threats to the peace process. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a briefing on August 21. When asked whether Armenian citizens would be able to travel freely with the opening of the borders, he referred to the principle of reciprocity and emphasized that they would be able to travel anywhere, but as tourists.
The agendas on the return of refugees, according to him, is mainly becoming a subject of political speculation. "And, therefore, this will not give anything to the refugees themselves, on the contrary, it will create new tensions, with all the consequences," the head of government said. He recalled that many conflicts, including the Karabakh conflict, began with the discussion of " innocent cultural, social, and political issues". But what all this turned into, according to Pashinyan, was felt by everyone. "This is my approach and strategic proposal to both the Armenian and Azerbaijani public, and I think we should follow this path," he concluded.
