ArmInfo. Immediately following the events in Washington, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev once again spoke about Baku's demand to amend the Constitution of Armenia. Today, Aliyev's special representative Elchin Amirbekov, reiterated the same thesis in an interview with NE Global. Tatevik Hayrapetyan, expert on Azerbaijani studies, wrote this on her Facebook page.
Elchin Amirbekov has specifically noted that Baku is waiting for amendments to the Constitution of Armenia to eliminate the still existing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in order to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Now I have a question: can we demand changes to Azerbaijani textbooks for general education schools? For example, in the 5th grade textbook it is written: "The Armenian SSR was established on the western part of the historical Azerbaijani lands. Later, the Moscow leadership transferred part of the lands that were originally part of the Azerbaijan SSR, including Sharur-Derelayaz and Western Zangezur, to the Armenian SSR. This led to the separation of Azerbaijan from Nakhchivan. Our compatriots, forcibly expelled from their ancestral lands, later established the "Western Azerbaijan" community. This community advocates for the preservation of our historical heritage in Western Azerbaijan and the rights of the displaced population in international organizations. They continue to fight for the return to their homeland." Is this not a form of state propaganda against the Republic of Armenia, shaping the views of a whole generation in Azerbaijan? By the way, I would like to note that there have been changes in textbooks since 2020, in connection with that I will once again share my research," Tatevik Hayrapetyan wrote.
