ArmInfo. The Washington Declaration of August 8 opens the door for further speculation on the part of Baku. This opinion was expressed by Iranologist Vardan  Voskanyan in connection with the signing of a joint declaration in  Washington by the leaders of the United States, Armenia and  Azerbaijan, aimed at resolving the conflict between Yerevan and Baku.

The expert drew attention to the section of the third paragraph of  this declaration, which states: "These efforts will include unimpeded  communication between the main part of the Republic of Azerbaijan and  Nakhichevan through the territory of Armenia, with mutual advantages  of international and domestic communication for the Republic of  Armenia."

As Voskanyan noted in this vein, the President of Azerbaijan had  previously interpreted the expression "unimpeded communication" as  ensuring free, without any checks and restrictions, communication  between Baku and Nakhichevan through Armenia's Syunik. "The phrase  "mutual benefits" for Armenia, recorded in the same paragraph, is an  attempt to balance the vague word "unhindered". This phrase leaves  the door open for further speculation on the part of the barbaric  regime of Baku.

Meanwhile, it could have been closed in the same document if, for  example, the wording "for Armenia on the same terms" had been used.  And the simplest wording that would close the problem of the  machinations of the Baku regime could have been very simple: "the  parties undertake to open all communications," the expert summed up.

On August 8, a trilateral meeting of the leaders of the United  States, Armenia and Azerbaijan took place in the White House. Within  the framework of this meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan, US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham  Aliyev signed a joint declaration aimed at resolving the conflict  between Yerevan and Baku.
