ArmInfo. Former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Vardan Harutyunyan has been detained in Armenia. This information was confirmed in an interview with ArmInfo by the press secretary of the Anti-Corruption Committee Marina Ohanjanyan.
"The former high-ranking employee of the State Revenue Committee was detained as part of a criminal case investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee on charges of illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity, anti-competitive activity and money laundering," the press secretary of the Anti-Corruption Committee said.
Vardan Harutyunyan headed the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia in 2016-2018. Before that, he was the head of Gazprom Armenia.
Earlier, Armenian media reported that the act incriminated to Harutyunyan was based on his opening of the Norfolk Consulting company during his time as head of the State Revenue Committee, through which illegal actions were carried out from the point of view of law enforcement officers.
According to available information, the Anti-Corruption Court is currently considering the issue of arresting the former head of the State Revenue Committee.
