ArmInfo. Residents of the Vardashen quarter of the Erebuni administrative district today, August 4, held a protest in front of the Yerevan City Hall, demanding a solution to the emergency situation in their dormitory at 70, Vardashen 9th Street.
In a conversation with journalists, they said that no one has solved their problem in two years. Meanwhile, in addition to the fact that the building is in an emergency condition, it is infested with snakes and rats, while small children live in the building. Earlier, they learned that the same problems of dormitories 68A and 62, to which their dormitory is attached, are already being solved. They noted that the problems of these two buildings began to be solved only after their residents held protests and began to block roads. In this regard, they noted that they have no choice but to take the same methods to finally be heard.
"Mayor Tigran Avinyan promised to solve this problem, they even demanded the relevant documents from us, which we had provided long ago. It was only about 17 rooms. However, no one has started to deal with our problem, the mayor is on vacation, the head of the district administration is not there, and no one else is going to receive us," the Vardashen residents complained.
During the protest, the Vardashen residents tried to enter the city hall building to demand a meeting with the deputy mayor. However, they were asked to leave, and journalists were prohibited from filming in the city hall building.
During the process, a representative of the capital's municipality came out to them, who listened to their problems. In particular, he noted that the other two dormitories are not on the balance sheet of the city hall, and their problem was solved precisely when they turned to the Armenian government. However, he admitted that the solution to this problem is within the competence of the city hall.
Meanwhile, he was unable to give the residents of Vardashen any explanations regarding the process of the case, noting that he does not have the authority to do so.
The municipal representative again suggested writing a statement, which would be considered. In addition, he stated that two people could enter the building, who would be given answers to all questions of interest and would be explained to whom the residents of Vardashen should contact next.
