Armenia`s Anti-Corruption Court accepts claim for confiscation of  former high-ranking police official`s property

ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia has accepted the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office on confiscation of property of illegal origin from the former head of the Main Department of State Security of the Police Aram Zakaryan.

According to the supervisory body, the following are subject to  confiscation in favor of the Republic of Armenia: 2 real estate  properties in Yerevan, 1 shareholding in a legal entity, 14 million  203 thousand drams - as the remainder of illegal funds.

Zakaryan has been in the police system since 1982. In 2004-2010, he  was the head of the State Police Protection Department, in 2011 - the  head of the Police Educational Complex Academy, in 2011-2013 - the  head of the Armavir Regional Police Department of the Republic of  Armenia, from April 15, 2013 to October 3, 2014 - the head of the  Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Republic of Armenia  Police, on October 3, 2014 he was appointed the head of the General  Staff of the Republic of Armenia Police, in 2016 he was appointed the  head of the Main Department of State Security of the Police of  Armenia and held this position until June 2018.

The former head of the Main Department of State Security of the  Police is accused of using his official position to organize the  theft of especially large amounts of money paid by business entities  under contracts for the implementation of security
