Providing `corridor` under guise of economic development is in fact  transfer of political control - opposition MP

ArmInfo. The current government in the country talks about the transfer of the Meghri section as if it were opening the "gates of the fortress", assuring that this will contribute to economic development, but in reality this will mean an invasion of the territory of Armenia in order to gain political  control. Thus, the member of the Armenian parliament from the  opposition faction "I have the honor" Tigran Abrahamyan commented on  the words of the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan on his  Facebook page that "Syunik will become the gate for the further  development of Armenia if these gates are opened".

"The president elected, but in fact appointed by the ruling party  "Civil Contract" meant the Meghri section.  Providing a corridor to  Azerbaijan and Turkey for you and your political team can really open  up opportunities, but you have little connection with the Armenian  people and the Armenian agenda," Abrahamyan emphasized.

In this vein, the MP drew attention to the fact that the Armenian  authorities are directing all their resources to distracting the  attention of the Armenian public from the concept of a "corridor",  the political consequences of this process or possible geopolitical  upheavals. Instead, according to Abrahamyan, they are trying to make  society think only about money, material and personal interests,  which, in turn, will have a false effect.

Recall that earlier, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan went on a  three-day working visit to the Syunik region, where he answered  questions from representatives of the regional authorities, touching  upon the priorities of the country's domestic and foreign policy.

The Meghri route is a project for a transport route about 40 km long  through the territory of the Syunik region of Armenia, which would  provide transport links between the western regions of Azerbaijan and  its exclave, the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. The opening of  transport routes in the region was envisaged by point 9 of the  trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, of the leaders of Russia,  Armenia and Azerbaijan. Meanwhile. Azerbaijan is trying to distort  the essence of these agreements and obtain an extraterritorial  corridor.
