ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is trying in every way to demonstrate that the Armenian people are not concerned about the problems that have resulted from the prime minister's seven-year tenure in power, and especially that he is not interested in the fate of the Armenian identity.
This is how Anna Mkrtchyan, an MP from the opposition faction "I Have the Honor," responded to the Armenian prime minister's statements that allegedly "the life of the population of Armenia has improved by 50%," made by him in connection with the celebration of the Vardavar holiday by Armenians on the shores of Lake Sevan.
At the same time, she drew attention to the fact that this is happening against the backdrop of growing general hatred towards the prime minister. "Pashinyan understands that the majority of the Armenian people are actually concerned about both the issue of preserving our identity and the fate of our state. And he realizes that everyone who really thinks about this does not want to see him in power," Mkrtchyan is sure.
In this regard, according to her, it is beneficial for the Prime Minister to show the reality in which the Armenian people allegedly have no problems and live well. Mkrtchyan believes that the post by the head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MECS) of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan, made on Facebook on the same day regarding the fact that new history textbooks will be introduced in Armenian schools starting in September, fits into this logic.
The MP is sure that this is another attempt to trample on Armenian identity and historical heritage, which was not accidentally undertaken on the day of Vardavar celebration in Armenia. "They hate both Armenia and the Armenian people, and they simply do not know how else to demonstrate this hatred," Mkrtchyan added.
Touching upon Pashinyan's intention to organize a rally in the center of Vagharshapat against Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, the oppositionist expressed her conviction that the Armenian Prime Minister will not back down from his desire to attack the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). Moreover, she is sure that this is another program of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, which Pashinyan is implementing.
"The Prime Minister knows that he has no support inside the country, and that domestic political intolerance towards him is only growing every day. That is why Pashinyan will not back down from implementing this plan. He needs to seize the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to lose the national pillars. The state is already on the verge of destruction today, and in order to exclude the possibility of its restoration, Pashinyan continues to humiliate people and destroy all the pillars of our identity," Mkrtchyan summed up.
The Prime Minister previously stated that today people in Armenia live about 50% better. In support of his words, he drew attention to the crowded restaurants, recreation on the shores of Lake Sevan on Vardavar Day and queues for a Schengen visa, stretching for 6-7 months. However, let us note that according to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, by the end of 2023, 24.8% of the population is considered poor, most of whom cannot even afford to buy bread. Let us add that the Armenian Prime Minister, as part of his anti- church campaign launched at the end of May this year, declared his readiness to lead the process of removing the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II from the throne. On July 7, information began to circulate in the Armenian media that in the near future, security forces would launch another attack on the Armenian Apostolic Church. However, the specific date is unknown.
