ArmInfo. Secretary of the "I have the honor" faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Tigran Abrahamyan calls the expression of no confidence in the current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the only way out of the domestic political impasse.
"The strength of Pashinyan's rule is chaos, political desolation and lack of content, and he will constantly try to transfer processes in this direction.
It is very difficult to resist him and win in this field, because he has no principles and "brakes", Abrahamyan wrote on his Facebook page.
In this regard, at this stage, the representative of "I have the honor" calls for a socio-political consensus and solidarity based on an agenda, program and hard work.
"At this stage, the Republican Party of Armenia is considering all this within the framework of expressing no confidence in the government, which means that other players on the field have two options: either start political discussions around this with the imperative of consolidation, or offer another internal opposition agenda.
The third option is to wait, get exhausted and disintegrate, paving the way for the re-election of the current ruler," he summed up.
Recall that on June 7, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) under the 3rd President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, represented by the opposition faction "I have the honor" of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia (6 NA deputies), as part of the impeachment process, nominated the head of the Masis community of the Ararat region, member of the RPA Council David Hambardzumyan as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
The opposition faction "Hayastan" stated that they are ready to provide 28 signatures if, in addition to signing the relevant form, they begin a parallel street struggle. "So that we can record the result, and not a document with 34 signatures, which we have had for the past 4 years. Therefore, we have proposed our colleagues (from "I have the honor") to concentrate their efforts to collect the required number of signatures," - said earlier the deputy of the "Hayastan" faction, the representative of the Supreme Body of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
It should be noted that a vote of no confidence in the current prime minister can be discussed in the National Assembly only if at least 36 deputies provide the signatures necessary to begin the process. The two opposition factions ("Armenia" and "I have the honor") together make up 34 deputies. Another four have independent status. In order to express no confidence in the head of government, at least 54 out of 107 MPs must vote for impeachment.
Meanwhile, independent MP Hovik Agazaryan previously stated that he and Hakob Aslanyan (also independent, previously a deputy from the , like Agazaryan - ed.) will not support Hambardzumyan's candidacy, since they also have their own candidate - Pashinyan's former ambassador- at-large Edmon Marukyan. On June 27, the latter announced his readiness to refuse to nominate his candidacy in the vote of no confidence in Nikol Pashinyan in favor of Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan. However, Ajapakhyan himself, after he found himself in the Investigative Committee building, refused to nominate his candidacy.
