ArmInfo. A Syrian Armenian held hostage in Azerbaijan since November 10, 2020, celebrated his 46th birthday in a Baku prison. This was reported by the Free Armenian Hostages initiative.
"July 13 is Vigen Euljekjyan's birthday. But this is not a happy anniversary. Vigen should have celebrated his 46th birthday today with his family and friends. Instead, Aliyev has been holding him captive for 1,853 days. We continue to fight for the release of Vigen and all 23 hostages," the initiative said in a statement.
After the end of the 44-day war was declared, Vigen Euljekjyan and his wife left Yerevan for Artsakh to pick up their belongings, but were captured by the Azerbaijani side. Vigen's wife was released thanks to the efforts of the speaker of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. Vigen himself was sentenced by an Azerbaijani staged court to 16 years in prison for alleged terrorism. The entire civilized world community turns a blind eye to the tyranny of the Azerbaijanis towards the illegally captured Armenians.
