ArmInfo. The president of the Tashir Group of Companies, Samvel Karapetyan, who is under arrest, has begun the process of forming a political team. This is stated in the statement of the businessman.
"Our very first rally confirmed the authorities' main fear: our people are confident in their strength and will not be broken by repression. I would like to once again thank tens of thousands of my compatriots who have shown civic courage on July 4 and to this day. I am also sincerely grateful to everyone who has expressed support for me. My message has been discussed a lot these days, but, unfortunately, there have been various interpretations that are out of touch with reality. I think I have expressed myself very clearly: we will create a fundamentally new political force. I have great respect for the political forces and figures who are still waging a real fight against the anti-people policy of Nikol Pashinyan's government (RA Prime Minister - ed.). But we have our own vision of building a bright future for Armenia. And we will go our own way, with our new team, not excluding domestic political cooperation with like-minded people.
We will try to unite our people around justice and great goals. We will reject black and white and other artificial divisions, imposed on society by this government, which are aimed at dividing and weakening our country," Samvel Karapetyan said in a statement.
It also emphasizes that even in various circles of the current government there are real professionals who do not share the values of a narrow group, but still do not see the path that they would consider a way out of the current situation. "The formation of our political team has begun," the head of the Tashir Group of Companies noted.
We recall that philanthropist and president of the Tashir Group of Companies Samvel Karapetyan was detained on the night of June 18 in Yerevan by law enforcement agencies of Armenia after he expressed support for the Armenian Apostolic Church. In response, this was followed by open threats from the Prime Minister. On the night of June 19, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction arrested Samvel Karapetyan for two months. He is being held in the Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution (the well-known "KGB basement" in the building of the National Security Service of Armenia). He is accused of publicly calling for the seizure of power in the country. Karapetyan does not admit guilt.
