ArmInfo. Elinar Vardanyan a member of the Armenian Parliament and the Alternative Projects group, reports that a mother of three children, one of whom is only eight months old, has been arrested on charges of assisting illegal migration.
As Vardanyan clarified on her Facebook page, the woman, who had been making transfers for about a year, was initially questioned as a witness, but her status was later changed to that of an accused. The case is currently in the preliminary trial stage.
"At first, the court decided on house arrest as a preventive measure. However, since the woman lives in a rented apartment, the owner refused to allow her to serve house arrest there. Consequently, the court ordered three months of arrest, meaning that the woman and her eight-month-old child must be transferred to a temporary detention facility," Vardanyan noted.
The MP also pointed out that the other defendants in this case were not arrested. "A question arises for Judge Arshak Matevosyan, who has made the decision to take her into custody: do you know what humanism is? After all, justice and fairness also imply it," Vardanyan concluded. Note that the defendant's lawyer, Zaruhi Postanjyan, started to raise the issue in the courtroom.
