ArmInfo. Washington hopes for a quick peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
According to media reports, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this at a meeting of President Donald Trump's cabinet. Rubio called the likelihood of a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku one of the achievements of the Trump administration in less than 6 months of work.
"Hopefully, pretty soon a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia; the entire Middle East and the infrastructure of it has the potential now to change because of Syria and Lebanon; and it hasn't even been six months," Rubio said.
On March 13, it became known that Yerevan and Baku had completed the approval of the draft peace treaty. At the same time, the Prime Minister of Armenia noted that the time and place of signing the treaty had not yet been determined. According to him, Yerevan is waiting for the go-ahead from Baku. Touching upon the content of the two remaining points that were agreed upon, Pashinyan said that this was an agreement on the non-deployment of third-country forces and the waiver of international claims. It is noteworthy that despite the completion of negotiations, Baku refuses to sign the document, putting forward new preconditions to Armenia.
