ArmInfo. The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has taken into consideration that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan once again refused to attend the event, as noted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov following the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers in Kyrgyzstan.
"We proceed from the fact that the heads of our states, when they met as part of the CSTO, also took note of Armenia's attitude towards the CSTO. We still consider Armenia a full member of this organization, but, of course, full membership implies participation and compliance with all obligations outlined in the CSTO statutory documents. This includes, by the way, the payment of dues," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
However, according to him, the statements of the Armenian leadership indicate that trends are developing in a multi-vector context. Lavrov recalled that the Prime Minister of Armenia recently stated that they will soon have to choose between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. "Someone from the Armenian leadership also stated that they will have to make a final decision on the CSTO in the near future. We are not putting any pressure on the Armenian ruling circles, we will wait for clarity on all these issues. However, we all understand that if Armenia turns away from its allies, its closest partners, its neighbors, it is unlikely to benefit the Armenian people," the Russian diplomat concluded.
