ArmInfo. Russia has taken, is taking, and is ready to take all necessary actions to help ensure Armenia's sovereignty, its territorial integrity, and achieve normalization in relations with its neighbors, as stated by Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin in an interview with Euromedia24.
Noting that much has already been done in this direction, the diplomat cited as an example the trilateral statements signed at the highest level in 2020-2022 on key aspects of normalizing the situation in the region, the establishment of a working group to facilitate communication at the level of deputy prime ministers. He recalled the proposal of the Russian Federation, which remains in force, to use the Russian platform to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "Now we see that they have taken a stance on a bilateral format for discussing these issues. We respect this decision. However, we have publicly reiterated our readiness to provide assistance in the forms, volumes, and issues that are needed by both parties. This stance was communicated in the past, and continues to be our position," Kopyrkin said.
The diplomat emphasized that the normalization of the situation in the South Caucasus, along with the opening of communications is crucial for stability, peace and a secure future in the region, which is a vital interest of the Russian Federation.
