ArmInfo. Former Speaker of the National Assembly, former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has been detained. This information was confirmed by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Hovik Abrahamyan is accused of money laundering in a number of episodes, abuse of office and participation in illegal entrepreneurship.
Abrahamyan was charged in April 2023. According to the investigation, he, holding various positions (MP, Mayor of Ararat, Governor of Ararat region, Minister of Territorial Administration, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Administration, Speaker of the Parliament, Prime Minister), carried out a deal as a result of which he received an income of 230.4 million drams in 2008-2015.
Hovik Abrahamyan served as Prime Minister of Armenia in 2014-2016. He was also the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament - 2012-2014.
