ArmInfo. The situation regarding illegal drug trafficking and psychotropic drugs in Armenia was alarming, but in recent years, as a result of changes in state policy, certain positive trends have been recorded, as stated by Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Arpine Sargsyan during a government meeting on June 5. According to her, in 2018, there were 877 cases of such crimes, but by 2023, there was an increase in the detection of these crimes, with the number reaching 5070.
In 2024, as a result of a revision of the strategy and targeting import-production chains, the number of cases decreased to 3639. The minister also reported that in 2024, about 426 kg of drugs were confiscated from illegal circulation, which is approximately 200 kg more than in 2023. In the first months of 2025, 173 kg of drugs have already been seized.
