ArmInfo. The Union of Armenians of Russia deems the offensive statements made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan against the clergy of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church on the days when Christians worldwide celebrate the feast of the Resurrection of the Lord, as unacceptable. This stance is outlined in the Union's statement.
It emphasizes that it is not the first time the Prime Minister of the country, whose Basic Law enshrines the principle of separation of church and state, has encroached on the constitutional foundations. This time it was declared that "the Republic of Armenia must have a decisive vote in the election of the Catholicos of All Armenians." "What is happening appears to be a maneuver to divert the public's attention from real challenges, existential threats, and problems, that the RA government should be addressing. The Bible says: "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." Recalling this, we note that the vulgar language publicly and shamelessly used by Pashinyan towards the AAC, first of all, devalues the very institution of the country's prime minister, who has forgotten his purpose and is leading a shameful crusade against Armenian identity and statehood," the Union of Armenians of Russia said in a statement.
