ArmInfo.More than ten NGOs working in the field of women's rights have issued a joint statement calling on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to stop .
, the statement reads.
The NGOs also emphasize that sexually derogatory and misogynistic statements towards women, regardless of political context or purpose, are unacceptable, especially from the highest official in the country. < The use of women's bodies and identities in political conflicts is a dangerous precedent that reproduces harmful gender stereotypes and deepens systemic discrimination against women in Armenia. These words are not just personal insults: women are being used by men in power struggles. In political conflicts, men often use details of the sexual lives of their opponents' (alleged) partners, especially women, as a political tool. In this case, such publication can create serious dangers in the daily life of the targeted woman due to exposure to social pressures>, the NGOs note.
The civil society organizations conclude by demanding that Prime Minister Pashinyan remove the post targeting the woman and publicly apologize for the discriminatory statements and the disclosure of information about his alleged partner, thus serving as a precedent for other politicians and preventing its continued negative consequences.
