ArmInfo.CIS countries will use electronic copies of documents during interstate searches. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia ratified the protocol to the agreement of the Commonwealth of Independent States on interstate searches at a plenary session on May 29.
Presenting the document, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan noted that the protocol was signed on October 8, 2024, and the agreement itself on December 10, 2010. At present, as the speaker emphasized, paper document flow is used when conducting interstate search activities in the CIS countries. With the ratification of the protocol, this process will be completely transferred to electronic format.
The Deputy Minister reported that, at the request of Armenia, over 1,200 people were wanted in the CIS countries in 2024. For comparison: in 2023, the number of wanted persons was 867 people, and in 2022 - more than 1,400. According to Kazaryan, in response, the Armenian side handed over more than 700 wanted persons to their CIS colleagues in 2022-2024.
