ArmInfo. Iran is ready to contribute to the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as stated by Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani in a conversation with journalists in Agarak.
"Iran supports the peace agreement, and we believe that the signing of a peace agreement is in the interests of the two countries, and, also, in the interests of the region. We are ready to contribute to the signing of this agreement, which can lead to the unblocking of routes in the region," the diplomat said, as quoted by Armenian media.
In this vein, he noted that the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace project can bring peace and contribute to the prosperity of the region. "Iran is in favor of unblocking routes in the region, but they must be under the national sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia," he concluded.
