ArmInfo.The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced the agenda for the upcoming visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Yerevan.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, on May 20-21, Lavrov will be visiting Yerevan on a working visit. During his time there, he is scheduled to hold detailed talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. Talks with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Vahagn Khachaturyan are also expected to take place.
"The purpose of these meetings is to build upon agreements made during high-level discussions on October 8, 2024 at the highest level, and following a visit by A.S. Mirzoyan to Moscow on January 21. The agenda covers a wide range of topics related to bilateral cooperation, collaboration within Eurasian integration associations, alignment of positions on international platforms, primarily within the UN. The heads of the foreign ministries will exchange views on regional security issues, including the potential for the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish normalization processes. It is planned to sign a Plan of Inter- Ministerial Consultations for 2025-2026," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Lavrov will also speak at the Russian-Armenian University to teachers and students of branches of Russian universities and the expert community, and will also meet with compatriots at the Russian House. According to tradition, flowers will be laid at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a wreath will be laid at the Memorial to the Victims of the Armenian Genocide.
"Moscow expects that the visit will contribute to strengthening the political and interdepartmental dialogue between Russia and Armenia, will lead to increased mutual understanding and finding mutually acceptable solutions to issues of interest to each of the parties," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
