ArmInfo. Armenia proposed to raise the level of cooperation with Cyprus to strategic partnership. The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Annita Demetriou positively assessed this initiative. This was announced by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan on May 19 at a joint press conference with Demetriou.
According to the Armenian speaker, during the meeting, the speakers of the parliaments of Armenia and Cyprus discussed issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as prospects for cooperation on various international platforms.
<Today is a very important and pleasant day for me, since my colleague is one of the most prominent partners of the Republic of Armenia on international platforms. On those platforms where my colleague is represented, we have two <microphones>, we are twice as represented, for which I am grateful to Mrs. Demetriou and friendly Cyprus. Armenia is also always close to Cyprus and the people of Cyprus>, - he said.
Simonya introduced Demetriou to the process of normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. He also touched upon the issue of missing persons and prisoners held by Baku.

It should be noted that the delegation headed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Annita Demetriou arrived in Armenia at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan.
