ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities are trying to conceal Azerbaijan's ceasefire violations ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2026. Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly from the opposition faction "I Have Honor", made this statement during a briefing on May 16.
He noted that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been shelling border settlements for more than a month. Meanwhile, local authorities in Armenia have been pressuring residents of border communities to keep quiet about these attacks. According to Abrahamyan, this position of the authorities is due to their attempt to maintain a mythological vision of the peace, otherwise before the elections, this will put them in an extremely disadvantageous position. Additionally, he expressed serious concern about Azerbaijan's significant arm purchases from Israel, Turkey, Pakistan and certain European countries. Due to the fact that international organizations and Azerbaijan itself have not disseminated information about the weapons purchased in recent years, Armenia does not have the opportunity to objectively assess the military-political situation and correctly respond to possible threats.
