ArmInfo. Below is a statement by the Delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan to the OSCE on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory over Nazism in the Second World War.
"80 years ago, Nazism was defeated in the Second World War. We commemorate and honour this sacred date.
"The triumph over ideas of racial superiority and misanthropy achieved by armed means by the coalition of allies has determined the fate of civilization on a planetary scale and cannot be put to oblivion. It is our common duty to cherish historical memory of those tragic events and the great exploit of millions of people who fought and died for the peace and prosperity of future generations.
"Attempts to revise or distort the outcome of the Second World War, to rehabilitate and glorify the Nazis and their accomplices, as well as to downplay the role of the peoples of the Soviet Union and participants in the liberation movements of European countries in defeat of Nazism are categorically unacceptable.
"Efforts to rehabilitate and glorify the Nazis and their accomplices and to deny the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by them are unacceptable. According to the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal, which legally consolidated the gains of the victory over Nazism, the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices have no statute of limitations.
"We strongly condemn the destruction and desecration of monuments and burial sites of liberators of any nationality who laid their lives on the Altar of Victory, wherever these memorial sites are located. We mourn the victims of National Socialism.
"The Victory over Nazism in 1945 laid the foundations for the signing of the CSCE Helsinki Final Act in August 1975.
"We note the determination of the overwhelming part of the International Community to prevent a repetition of the tragic mistakes of the past and to build the future on unifying principles. In this context, we welcome the UN General Assembly resolution adopted on December 17, 2024 on 'Combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance'
"We call upon all countries and peoples to honor the memory of those who forged Victory in the Second World War, not to forget the lessons of the history, and fully contribute to efforts in combating all forms of neo-Nazism and its glorification. Defeated Nazism must not rise again!"
