ArmInfo. Armenia ranks 69th in the Human Development Index, according to the Human Development Report 2025 released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). A message from the UNDP Yerevan office received by ArmInfo notes that the report presents the 2023 HDI for 193 countries and UN recognized territories.
"Armenia's HDI value for 2023 is 0.811, which put the country in the high human development category, positioning it at 69th out of 193 countries and territories," the message says. It is emphasized that between 1990 to 2023, Armenia's HDI value changed from 0.663 to 0.811, a change of 22,3 percent. "Between 1990 and 2023, Armenia's life expectancy at birth changed by 8.0 years, mean years of schooling changed by 1.6 years, and expected years of schooling changed by 3.2 years. The country's GNI per capita changed by about 229.3 percent between 1990 and 2023," the report says.
According to a report released by UNDP today, human development progress is experiencing an unprecedented slow down. The report shows how artificial intelligence could reignite development. Instead of seeing sustained recovery following the period of the exceptional crisis of 2020-2021, the report reveals unexpectedly weak progress.
The 2025 Human Development Report- " A Matter of Choice: People and Possibilities in the Age of Artificial Intelligence", analyzes development progress across a range of indicators known as the Human Development Index (HDI), which encompasses achievements in health and education, along with levels of income. Projections for 2024 reveal stalled progress on the HDI in all regions across the world.
