ArmInfo. The ruling faction in the National Assembly of Armenia, the Civil Contract party, rejected the initiative of the parliamentary opposition to create an ethics commission regarding NA MP Andranik Kocharyan. Only 28 MPs voted in favor of the decision, while 47 voted against and one abstained.
As the head of the Civil Contract faction, Hayk Konjoryan, noted in his speech, the MPs from the ruling party voted opposed the initiative was it was an attack on the ruling party rather than an effort to establish an ethics commission. In response, Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the National Assembly from the opposition faction "Armenia", noted that today's vote once again confirmed the fact that the ruling faction in the country refuses to consider the idea of creating an ethics commission. "This reinforces the opposition's concerns that violence, hatred and intolerance are encouraged by the country's top political leadership," the oppositionist noted.
