ArmInfo. "My fellow countrymen are in an information vacuum regarding the events in Artsakh, as there is little coverage in the media, but I am sincerely convinced that what happened in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a tragedy not only for the Armenian people, but also for the Russian people.
" The author, Russian architect, professor Nikita Shangin, stated this on May 5 at the presentation of his book "Who and on Whose Land Created the Architectural Masterpieces of Nagorno- Karabakh?" In his book, the author not only presents the historical Armenian architectural monuments of Artsakh, but also exposes Azerbaijani attempts to distort historical facts and appropriate the rich Armenian cultural heritage in these territories.
In this regard, Yuri Navoyan noted that the book is a scientific response to all attempts at falsification by Azerbaijan. As the chairman of the organization explained, many states today are falling under the influence of Azerbaijani propaganda, recalling that earlier the Vatican hosted an international conference titled "Christianity in Azerbaijan: History and Modernity", at which the Artsakh cultural heritage was presented as Caucasian-Albanian. In this regard, he emphasized that the purpose of the event is also to raise the voice of justice against Azerbaijani falsification attempts.
In turn, the head of the Department of Cultural Studies at YSU, Hamlet Petrosyan, expressed his belief that the book holds significance because in Armenia there is currently no representative from the authorities who would raise the issue of the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage. Former Foreign Minister of Artsakh Karen Mirzoyan emphasized that the issues raised in the book are not only relevant to the people of Artsakh, but carry global significance. During the presentation, the author of the book also mentioned that the current heroes of Artsakh - its military and political leadership - are being held captive in an Azerbaijani prison, and emphasized that their release is a sacred duty. It should be noted that the presentation of the book was organized by the DIALOGUE NGO and took place with the participation of representatives from scientific and educational institutions in Armenia, Artsakh intelligentsia and youth.
