ArmInfo. Preserving the memory of the mass exterminations, ethnic cleansing, deportations and genocides that so horribly characterized the 20th century remains the task of generations - both in Germany and Armenia. This is stated in a publication of the German Embassy in Armenia.
"Demonstrating our commitment to the study of historical events, we are promoting the translation of the publications and audio guides of the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Museum into German within the framework of a joint program so that people in German-speaking countries can become even better acquainted with the history of the Armenian people," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
On April 22, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute (AGMI) and the German Embassy in Armenia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which provides for the translation and publication of the texts of the Armenian Genocide Museum audio guide into German with the support of the Embassy, as well as the translation and publication of an illustrated album of the museum's exposition into German.
On June 2, 2016, the German Bundestag adopted a resolution qualifying the mass extermination of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915-16 as genocide. The resolution was adopted almost unanimously - one deputy abstained and one voted against. The resolution not only recognizes the fact of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey at the beginning of the 20th century, but also Germany's responsibility for these events.
