ArmInfo. 110 years after the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, Turkey officially continues to stubbornly deny the historical truth. The Chairman of the Greek Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, wrote on his Facebook.
"April 24, 1915 - April 24, 2025. 110 years since the official start of the Armenian Genocide, when most of the Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople were arrested, tortured and killed. Hundreds of Armenians from Constantinople were hanged along with them. The Armenian Genocide is one of the darkest pages in human history, taking the lives of 1.5 million Armenians and becoming the beginning of the deportation and suffering of millions more. And yet, 110 years after these terrible historical events, Turkey officially continues to stubbornly deny the historical truth. And today, in the place where history and wounds meet the present and the hopes of the future, we all have a duty to remember, honor, and protect the memory of our brothers; today-the Armenians, tomorrow-the people of Asia Minor, Pontus and the Cypriots. Because only in this way, with memory and prudence, can we unite and resist forgetting and the distortion of history," the statement says.
