The head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS), Sergei Naryshkin, believes that international recognition of the current Afghan authorities is inevitable, but is currently being hampered by the West's desire to maintain instability in the country, according to the FSI press bureau, as reported by RIA Novosti. Naryshkin visited Baku on April 17-18, 2025 to participate in the conference "Afghanistan: Regional Connectivity, Security and Development". On the sidelines of the event, he also met with the Azerbaijani intelligence and Security Service officials, as well as the heads of other regional intelligence agencies.
